Christian Meditation and Reflection

Christian Meditation and other Contemplative practices (such as Taize, green meditation imageLabyrinth Walking and Lectio Devina) make space for people to relax, be refreshed, become more attuned to themselves and come close to the Mystery of God.

In ancient times these contemplative practices were a strong part of many Christian traditions and whilst they fell out of favor for a period, in recent years there has been a reclaiming of the tradition by people who are finding the practices life giving and spiritually nurturing.

Goulburn Uniting Church is part of an ecumenical network of Christians practicing meditation and contemplation in the area. Within Goulburn there are regular meditation gatherings at the Uniting Church during Lent (the lead up to Easter), and at the Anglican Cathedral during Advent (the lead up to Christmas). Previously there was also regular meditation gatherings at the Catholic Cathedral. Each year the network also provides information on Quiet Days and retreats in Canberra and around NSW, and the Uniting Church in Goulburn offers opportunities for Labyrinth walking.

Weekly Meditation Groups during Lent and Advent are held:

Thursday’s 5.30pm – 6pm, at Goulburn Uniting Church, 42 Goldsmith St, Goulburn (during Lent).  And at St Saviours Cathedral, Faithful St Goulburn (during Advent). Please see the Calendar for upcoming dates.
